SiC – an unique and versatile high-performance material

Silicon Carbide (SiC) is a high performance material with unique, fascinating properties as a fiber, composite or coating.

In form of a pre-ceramic polymer it is either a liquid or a powder. As a liquid or a molten powder it can be used to infiltrate other materials to produce CMCs. Such CMCs offer an outstanding set of properties combining high mechanical strength, strong resistance against aggressive media and excellent stability in high temperatures while being much lighter than common metals and alloys such as Aluminum, Titanium or Steel Alloys. In addition it can be used to coat other materials to protect them from aggressive media.

SiC can also be turned into ceramic fibers. Such fibers offer an unique, high performance set of properties combining high mechanical strength, strong resistance against aggressive media and atmospheres and excellent stability in high temperatures.

SiC Fibers and SiC-Coatings offer solutions where other materials fail!

Product Portfolio

BJS Ceramics currently develops pre-ceramic polymers and ceramic SiC Fibers.

First commercial volumes for both, pre-ceramic polymers and ceramic SiC Fibers, will be available end 2018/ beginning 2019.

BJS Ceramics offers to program the properties of SiC Fibers. Please contact us now for your specific needs in SiC Fibers as well as for information on confectioning and sizing.

The SiC Fibers and pre-ceramic polymers of BJS Ceramics GmbH are registered under the trademark of Silafil®.
