The BJS companies, BJS Ceramics GmbH and BJS Composites GmbH, are head-quartered in Gersthofen, a city located close to Augsburg - approximately 60 km north-west of Munich, Bavaria, Germany. The metropol region Munich-Augsburg is one of the hot spots for high tech aviation technology and production – providing both, prime industrial and scientific, infrastructure.
 
BJS Ceramics GmbH was founded in 2014 to carve out the Silicon Carbide (SiC) Fiber business and technology from SGL Carbon SE. With this acquisition, the SGL Carbon key experts for SiC Fiber development and production joined BJS Ceramics GmbH. BJS Ceramics GmbH trail-blazes the development of SiC Fbers in Europe and cooperates with key players in the industrial and scientific arena. Flagship projects are executed in collaboration with Fraunhofer ISC in Würzburg, Germany, and Bayreuth, Germany.

The BJS production routes for SiC Fibers and SiC/SiC composite materials as well as C/SiC composite materials are proprietary to BJS and patented.
 
The personnel of the BJS companies consists of scientific and development experts with international experience in fiber and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC) development and production, material science, chemistry and engineering. BJS applies SixSigma methodology throughout its processes.
